How to make a Peter Pan Costume

Soar to Neverland in a Peter Pan Costume

This Peter Pan costume is sure to ensure your next Halloween party never grows up. This versatile costume can also be paired with Tinkerbelle or Captain Hook costumes for a stunning group ensemble.

Peter Pan Costume Materials:

  • Green oversized t-shirt
  • Leather belt
  • Dark green stockings or tights
  • Roll of tin foil
  • Hot glue gun
  • Green felt
  • Leather sandals
  • Long red feather
  • Cardboard box
  • Scissors

Create a Homemade Peter Pan Halloween Costume

Adjust the length of the t-shirt so it ends at your lower thigh. Use scissors to create a zig-zag hem on the edges of the green t-shirt, including the neckline, sleeves and bottom. Take the green felt fabric and cut out a large square. Pull the edges of the square backwards to create a conical shape and glue gun the ends. Use a glue gun to attach the red feather in order to create the signature cap.

Draw a sword shape on the box and cut it out with scissors. Cover the area above the hilt with tin foil to create a metallic look or simply purchase a costume prop sword instead. Wear the green stockings, leather sandals, and put on the green zig-zag shirt as a tunic, cinching it at the waist with the brown leather belt. Secure the cap onto your head with bobby pins and carry your sword with you for your next Neverland adventure!

How to make a Punky Brewster Costume

Make a Homemade ’80s Punky Brewster Halloween Costume

Whether you’re dressing up for Halloween or simply looking for a 1980s theme party costume, you can’t beat the optimism and spunk of Punky Brewster. Transform yourself into this lovable foster kid with a few costume props, clothing items and a little “Punky power!”

Punky Brewster Costume Materials:

  • Denim jeans
  • Stuffed toy dog
  • Buttons and patches
  • Ponytail holders
  • Bright denim vest
  • Loud tennis shoes with mismatched laces
  • White cotton undershirt
  • Colorful long-sleeved shirt
  • Blue hoodie sweatshirt
  • Brightly striped leg warmers
  • Bandanas

Create Your Own Colorful Punky Brewster Costume

Begin by putting on the clothing in layers. Start by wearing the denim jeans and the long-sleeved shirt on the bottom layer. Wear the bright blue hoodie sweatshirt, and roll both cuffs up together so the shirt on the bottom layer shows. Put the white undershirt over the sweatshirt and cuff the sleeves twice. Finally, don the denim vest over the undershirt layer to create Punky’s ragtag look.

Decorate the denim vest with buttons and patches, preferably ones from the 1980s. Pull on your legwarmers over your jeans and tie bandanas over your pants. Pull your hair into two pigtails and secure with ponytail holders. You can also use a brunette wig with bangs to create this effect. Finish Punky’s look off by carrying a toy stuffed dog as Brandon, Punky’s faithful canine friend.

Lay the red fabric down on the ground draw lines extending diagonally outward from each mark downward. Cut just outside the lines with scissors and hem the edges of the garment. Sew the gold cord to the sides of the cape near the mark you have created.

Wear your black dress and black stockings and shoes. Use curlers to create a wavy style and pin back the sides of your hair or use a blow dryer to create a girl-next-door flip accented by the headband. Don the cape and carry the wicker basket and get ready to take on the big, bad wolf!

How to make a South Park Kenny Costume

Bundle Up as Kenny in a South Park Halloween Costume

One of South Park’s poorest and most unfortunate kids, Kenny meets an untimely demise at the end of nearly every episode. In this South Park Kenny costume, you won’t hear anyone yelling, “You killed Kenny!” as you bring the character to life in this trademark Halloween costume. With a few easily obtained pieces and a little creativity, you can become the notorious, animated tyke this Halloween.

South Park Kenny Costume Materials:

  • Brown mittens or gloves
  • Orange parka with hood
  • Black boots
  • Orange pants
  • Brown hoodie sweatshirt
  • Safety pins
  • Bunting

Create Your Own South Park Kenny Costume

Begin your Kenny costume by wearing a comfortable layer of base clothes, such as leggings and a cotton shirt. Make sure not to wear anything too thick underneath your parka if you plan on being indoors, to avoid overheating. Wear the brown hoodie sweatshirt first and then don the trademark Kenny parka. Use safety pins to pin the top of the sweatshirt hood to the inside of your parka. Next, pull the drawstrings of your hoodie to create Kenny’s classic peek-a-boo look.

Put on your brown boots and zip up your parka to create the total effect. If you want, you can add bunting to inside the hood of the parka to create a rounder effect. You can also purchase ready-made Kenny costume parkas for an extra-authentic South Park look.
